Growing expeditionary legs in the Pacific theater: III MEF demonstrates organic mobility for operations in Southeast Asia
Article Abstract:
The self-deployment capabilities developed and utilized by the III Marine expeditionary force (MEF) and their possible influence on future Marine Corps operations in the Southeast Asia are discussed. The III MEF validation of the SAAB and HSV employments concepts have opened doors for future operations throughout Southeast Asia, as its self-deployment is an operational success and represents a tremendous operational advancement.

The role of Marine Forces Reserve logistics in OIF
Article Abstract:
Marine Forces Reserve participated in all aspects of Operation Iraqi Freedom by providing airpower, ground combat capability, and combat service support and also filling a large number of individual billets on Marine and joint staffs. Reserve Marines on active duty in support of OIF peaked at over 21,300 in May 2003, representing 52 percent of the Selected Marine Corps Reserve.
