Hawk software release will open flight path for South African Air Force's Gripen training
Article Abstract:
The Advanced Technologies and Engineering (ATE) would provide the Operational Clearance Software Standard 2 (OC2) version of the avionics software for the South African Air Force (SAAF) BAE Systems Hawk Mk 120 which would complete the Hawk with final operational clearance scheduled in mid-2007 for fighter-pilot training. The Hawk lead-in fighter trainers (LIFT) are a part of 'strategic arms packages' of South Africa and train the pilots for the JAS 39C/D Gripens due to enter service between 2008 and 2011.

Sagem conducts landmark Sperwer flight
Article Abstract:
The first flight of the Sagem Defense Securite Sperwer tactical reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into civilian controlled airspace is the first UAV in France to be granted permission to fly outside military facilities. Sagem was awarded a French government contract to further develop its weaponised variant of the Sperwer, the Sperwer B.

Finnish Air Force outlines plans for Hawk Mk 51/51A trainer avionics upgrade work
Article Abstract:
The Finnish Air Force's Hawk Mk 51/51A trainer aircraft will receive a two-stage avionics upgrade programme, designed to keep them in service until around 2020. The upgrade programme is aimed to improve mission debriefing and the quality of training.
