Article Abstract:
The new generation of air-to-air missiles entering service or under development uses modern sensors and electronics and is designed particularly to work with new technology on the launch platform. While the air-to-air missiles (AAMs) presently used are reliable and effective, the next development depends on enhancements to present weapons and the emerging capabilities of Meteor and infrared search-and-track sensors.

Technology drives US Joint Strike Fighter programme to the limit

The first Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is preparing for its first flight in late November or early December 2006. The delays in the programme, which has taken five almost twelve years to become operational, are threatening big cost increases for the UK and Australia.
