Indian Navy commissions Brahmaputra - despite a gaping hole in its SAM missile capability
Article Abstract:
The INS Brahmaputra frigate built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd was commissioned by the Indian Navy despite a gaping hole where the Trishul surface-to-air missile system is to be installed. The 105-m long frigate, which cost over $958 million, is equipped with 16 Russian Uran anti-ship missiles, two anti-submarine helicopters and a close-in weapon system. It is said to be capable of achieveing a maximum speed of 32 knots.
