Indian intelligence blamed over clashes

Intelligence agencies in India are being criticized for their lack of warning about possible border clashes with Bangladesh. Such clashes did take place, and resulted in the killing of 16 members of the Indian Border Security Force.

The intelligence services of India are scheduled to undertake an extensive reorganization. The services are being blamed for various security breakdowns, such as failures to detect border intrusions by both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

A task force in India has completed its review of the country's intelligence operations, and has recommended numerous changes. The study came about as a result of unnoticed Pakistani troop infiltration into Kashmir.
