In the dark of the night
Article Abstract:
The US Army is set to award the Omnibus V contracts for the procurement of military night-vision goggles (NVGs). ITT Night Vision in Roanoke, VA, and Litton Electro-Optical Systems Division in Garland, TX, the world's leading manufacturers of military NVGs, were due to submit their bids for Omnibus V in June 1998. The Army is expected to split the procurement between ITT and Litton in a 60/40 arrangement. Military NGVs under the Omnibus V program are expected to further push the performance envelope, although its minimum specifications are basically similar to its predecessor, Omnibus IV.
