Is Iran's oil weapon a double-edged sword?
Article Abstract:
Iran's threat that it will suspend oil exports and disrupt maritime traffic in the Straits of Hormuz if faced with economic sanctions by the U.S. may turn out to be a double-edged sword as this may damage Western and Japanese economies on the one hand and bankrupt Iran on the other hand. The countries dependent on Iran for imported energy are not yet ready to call the bluff because Iran may act as threatened at the cost of self destruction if it can be disastrous for others and hence the watch and wait situation continues.

Understanding the true dynamics: Why the Iran Oil Bourse is not a Casus Belli
Article Abstract:
A new trend of thought seems to be that the real reason that led the Anglo-American powers to declare war on Iraq is the announcement of the Tehran government setting up a Tehran Oil Bourse. It is opined that this thought process is wrong, because the war on Iran was in planning since the 1990s, as an integral part of the US Greater Middle East strategy and the Oil Bourse argument is merely an excuse to divert attention from the real geopolitical grounds for the war.
