Helmet-mounted display for the F-22 Raptor
Article Abstract:
Vision Systems International LLC (VSI) has landed a contract from Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Company that calls for the integration of the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) into the US Air Force F-22 Raptor aircraft. The contract follows a previous contract for the development of the JHMCS for US aircraft that include the F-15, F-16 and F/A-18. The JHMCS allows high-g off-boresight weapons engagements through the system's optimized computer graphics, including features such as in-flight-replaceable modules for improved operational use. The JHMCS also permits pilots to lock on launch before the enemy sees them.

USAF to retrofit F-16s with Night Vision Imaging System
Article Abstract:
Luminescent Systems Inc. of Buffalo, NY, has received a $50-million contract from the Aeronautical Systems Center. The company will be installing the Night Vision Imaging System into the Block 30, 40, and 50 types of the Air Force and National Guard F-16 fleet. The upgrade will leave the external lighting and cockpit systems complementary of present night-vision technology. Cockpit instruments can be read through filtered or new internal lighting systems that will not impair the night-vision goggles visual acuity.
