Jointness
Article Abstract:
The author assesses the pros and cons of Richard Sinnreich's column in the Lawton (Oklahoma) Constitution which disputed the appropriateness of the Army-Navy football game rivalry rather than promoting harmony, symmetry and jointness between the service academies and developing a uniformity in thinking about how to fight wars. The basic argument is between two points of view: those who want to develop experts in the specialties of land, sea and air warfare as their first priority, compared with those who want fighting as a team to be the driving consideration for the basic education of all officers.
