Fires from the sea
Article Abstract:
The development of the 21st Century Land-Attack Destroyer, the DD-21, represents a major shift in the role of the US Navy from open-ocean warfare to 'littoral battlefield' support. The battleships, which will provide fire support to elements of the Marines and the Army, will feature unprecedented firepower. These will come from such systems as the Extended-Range Guided Munition, the Land-Attack Standard surface-to-air missile and the DD-21 advanced naval gun system.

Jerry St. Pe
Article Abstract:
Litton Ship Systems COO Jerry St. Pe believes that the company's decision to establish Litton Ship Systems Full Service Center in Pascagoula, MS, as an autonomous unit is the result of the realization of the changing procurement strategy being implemented by the US Navy. St. Pe believes that the company is now in a better position to offer ship services once the ship has been commissioned into the naval service. The move also prepares Litton for its evolution into a full-service contractor.
