Mobile field telephone system
Article Abstract:
Siemens Switzerland Ltd's AWITEL field telephone system, which were developed for the Swiss Armed Forces, permit as many as 30 devices to be linked to a field cable with a length of over 12km. Enabling up to 14 subscribers to converse simultaneously, the AWITEL system allows connections to private and public networks, manual transmitted local battery networks, radio networks and in-house telephone exchanges through the AWINAP interface.

High-speed multi-service local ATM networks for command posts
Article Abstract:
The increasing specialization within the armed forces is creating new needs in ground-based battlefield telecommunications. These new requirements are most apparent in the area around Command Post, where requirements are for multimedia capability and high-speed local area network services. Thomson-CFS Comsys has developed an asynchronous transfer mode-based system to meet these requirements.
