Navies face choice questions for defense of surface combatants
Article Abstract:
Decision-makers in the field of procurement of high-performance area air defense missile systems for naval surface combatants have a principal choice of either adopting the semi-active radar-homing guidance technology or selecting the active radar homing guidance principle. This choice is fundamental as it determines the way the missile is guided towards its target along with the associated target designation and fire-control radar and anti-air warfare (AAW) command-and-control (C2) technology.

Communication weaknesses endanger allied integration in US-led air campaign
Article Abstract:
The hugely successful US-led air campaign in the Iraq war was entirely due to precision planning combined with hi-tech execution. In a conference held to analyze the operations it was felt that all networked operations must have sufficient bandwidth to support data links and to overcome this problem, sensor platforms like the Global Hawk could be loaded.
