Newport News to open VASCIC carrier facility
Article Abstract:
Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co will open the Virginia Advanced Shipbuilding and Carrier Integration Center (VASCIC) in Jun 2001. The VASCIC will be dedicated to the integration of new systems and technologies for aircraft carriers. The new facility will be linked into the US Navy's distributed Engineering Plant and allow the Navy and the compant to jointly develop, test and manage system changes and upgrades before installation on an aircraft carrier.
