Pace of southern Philippine peace process angers rebels
Article Abstract:
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) negotiators are mistrustful of the Philippine government's motives and are unhappy with the slow pace of their peace talks with the government. The pragmatists in the MILF are concerned that the party's battlefield efficacy will diminish due to prolonged talks; the 2006 ceasefire has come under increasing strain, as the conflict in Mindanao has huge security implications.
