A small U.S. force is assisting Afghan national forces in bringing socio-political stability in the Western Afghanistan, which is the home to old mujahidin warlords who have stood the test of time in one of the most treacherous places on the planet.

British Army deploys Bowman radios in Iraq

The British Army has secretly deployed a key part of the Bowman communication system to Iraq, marking the system's operational debut. More than 300 of the British Army variant of the high-frequency Falcon II tactical radio were delivered to units in southern Iraq after Army commanders urgently requested better secure, long-distance communications in the lead up to the 30 January 2005 elections.
