Article Abstract:
Quality, empowerment, discipline and service are the imperatives that define the US Army Medical Department (AMEDD) and whatever the AMEDD does, and the manner in which it does, can be expressed as a function of these imperatives. The Commanding General of US Army Medical Command explains how his department is trying to cultivate all the qualities in the Army medics that are responsible for the accomplishment of such imperatives.

The elections: Step 2, shape the battlefield
Article Abstract:
In the weeks leading up to the Iraqi elections, U.S. forces clamped down on anti-Iraqi forces, taking insurgents off the streets and destroying weapons and munitions caches. The task forces were shaping the battlefield and similar operations were being conducted all around Iraq in order to increase security during the elections.
