The airlift shortfall deepens

The US Air Force lacks about 10% of the airlift capacity to carry out military strategies if the capacity was needed in 2001. Efforts to improve the capacity are underway, as contracts to purchase equipment are being made, and further detailed analysis of airlift capacity is being made.

The lessons learnt regarding the trends, plans from the operation Iraqi freedom is detailed, which were outlined during the twentieth Air warfare symposium in Orlando, Fla. More resources would be devoted to special operations forces and emphasis is laid on supporting ground forces.
