The Franco-German brigade consisting of nearly 5000 soldiers forms a part of the five-nation Eurocorps to assume command of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Eurocorps in peacetime is not integrated into the European Union or NATO structures but serves as a rapidly deployable headquarters tool for its five framework nations.
