Remembering the SS Leopoldville
Article Abstract:
The 'SS Leopoldville' was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the English Channel on Dec 24, 1944, and some 800 men died. The men were reinforcement soldiers for American units fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. The Allies covered up the information for 50 years, and only in 1997 was a memorial erected at Fort Benning, GA.

Remembering Lt. Gen. William (Buffalo Bill) Quinn
Article Abstract:
A former lieutenant describes his association with General William W. Quinn who was the commanding officer of the 17th Infantry Regiment when they first met in 1951. The then-Col. Quinn was a caring and concerned leader who wrote personal letter extolling each soldier good works when exiting Korea.

The last battle of Gen. William Orlando Darby
Article Abstract:
The experience and work done by Gen. William Orlando Darby in his life is described. One of his overriding principles was that no officer should ask his soldiers to do in combat what he himself was not willing to do.
