Kockums unveils new-generation undersea rescue system
Article Abstract:
Kockums has introduced a design for the next-generation submarine rescue vehicle which is aimed to replace the Swedish Navy's current rescue vehicle. The design, called the S-SRV is expected to cost around $20 million and would be able to bring an entire submarine crew up from a depth of 700m.

Saab develops remotely operated vehicle for expansion of submarine capabilities
Article Abstract:
Saab Underwater Systems (Sweden) in 2006 has developed a submarine remotely operated vehicle (SUBROV) designed to be operated from a standard submarine 533 mm torpedo tube. It covers a range of tasks including underwater work, observation, inspection and communications, and also helps recover autonomous underwater vehicles (UAVs) when they return from their mission, and could be used in existing submarines without requiring any modification to the boat.

FREMMs and neighbors: Europe seeks benefits of consolidation

France and Italy are participating in the largest frigate building effort in Europe, with their Fregate Europeenne Multi-Mission (FREMM) programme, which provides the French and Italian naval shipbuilding industry with a technological lead combined with a sizable workload in a period during which major steps are expected to be taken for a Europe-wide consolidation of the sector.The FREMM design, being a high performance, stealth warship with low operating cost, offers excellent export potential.
