Satellites for naval warfare: Navigation, surveillance, and guidance for weapon systems
Article Abstract:
Modern Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipments have become mandatory for ship crews to obtain worldwide, around-the clock, three-dimensional positions in any type of weather and it also provides missiles with new capabilities like land attack. The naval fleet have strengthened their power projection capabilities and improved their intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), communications, precision guidance of naval weaponry and environmental knowledge with the help of satellite systems.
