Securing tri-border areas
Article Abstract:
Areas where the borders of three countries meet pose great international security risks because the different law enforcement agencies lack co-ordination, giving criminal networks opportunities to exploit the confused jurisdiction to help terrorists. The new US security agenda has called for improved policing of such areas but there are inherent difficulties in employing the same security strategy when countering organized crime as when targeting terrorist networks.
