Article Abstract:
The Tactical Decision Game #03-5 presents a situation where the Scout/Sniper Platoon Commander, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines and his platoon organized into five teams is moving through a valley in search of forces armed with weapons, mortars and air defense systems that are occupying the area. The lead company commander (Echo Company) makes visual contact with the enemy and is about to conduct an ambush when Hunter 3, followed by Hunter 4, report platoons of infantry advancing towards their position and Hunter 1 is forced to fire due to the proximity of the enemy. Three different solutions, inclusive of orders to the platoon and report to the battalion accompanied by their rationale are presented in response to this situation.
