The Army-a strategically responsive force
Article Abstract:
The recently released national security strategy of American Army highlights the importance of homeland defense and the changing international security relationships. Also the third annual Transformation war game, Vigilant Warriors 2002 that focused on the development of strategic, operational and tactical capabilities necessary to meet evolving security challenges spotlighted the indispensability of landpower as a major component of national power and confirmed the Army's basic requirement to use a non-linear approach with goals and priorities that are focused on a capabilities-based force.

Air defense systems
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Army Program Executive Office, Air, Space and Missile Defense (PEO ASMD) is responsible for the management, acquisition and fielding of land based air and cruise missile defense systems. The Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensors System (JLENS), the Patriot Missile System, the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS), the AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel are some of the air defense systems of the Army that are discussed in detail.
