MES primed for UK's type 45
Article Abstract:
Marconi Electronic Systems (MES) has been chosen as the prime contractor for the Type 45 anti-air warfare destroyer program of the UK Royal Navy (RN). The defense contract, awarded on Nov 23, 1999, came a week after the company merged with British Aerospace to establish BAE SYSTEMS. The Type 45, set to enter active naval service beginning 2007, will replace the RN's Type 42 destroyers. MES' new contract is valued at 6 billion pounds sterling.

UK launches Type 45, needs more
Article Abstract:
HMS Daring, the first-of-class, of UK Royal Navy's Type 45 anti-air warfare destroyers was launched on 1 February 2006, at the BAE Systems shipyard at Scotchtown on the Clyde. Only six ships are currently ordered by BAE systems Naval Ships, though more would be required.
