Spy games: The dark arts of intelligence at sea
Article Abstract:
A survey of the advanced eavesdropping equipment that is being used by naval platforms to gather information is provided as several navies have taken the path to field more open, more advanced capabilities that only dedicated vessels can provide. In general they are fitted with a range of systems to gather intelligence from standoff distances well offshore and in international waters and often double up with other environmental or hydrographic survey capabilities.

Dili dallies on oil projects
Article Abstract:
The attempts of Dili government that is looking to potential oil revenues of up to US $40 billion over three decades as the key to East Timor's economic development and the means to allay growing domestic discontent, are discussed. However, two January announcements made by backers of petroleum projects in the Timor Sea illustrate the obstacles to the development of the basin's oil and gas reserves.
