GPS in the shadow of navwar
Article Abstract:
The need to deny hostile forces accurate civil (C/A) Standard Positioning Service has prompted research on navigational warfare (navwar). The objective of offensive navwar is to make Global Positioning System (GPS) unavailable in a limited area only, while making them available to the rest of the world. This can be attained by jamming techniques and by altering the broadcast schedule of the aircraft. GPS satellites are over 17,700 km away from a GPS receiver, thus making its signals weaker compared to even low-power jammers. If the C/A code is to be made unavailable in the combat area, there is a need to develop jam-resistant equivalent to the C/A code or a receiver capable of receiving the P(Y) code directly.

Turrets for tomorrow's fighting vehicle
Article Abstract:
Manufacturers are scampering to come up with latest designs to meet growing demand for new models of armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) turret. Specifically, the market for independently-designed turrets is proliferating because of armies' preference to upgrade older vehicles as well as the decision by manufacturers to provide new export variants of existing AFVs.
