Thailand confronts separatist violence in its Muslim south
Article Abstract:
The Thai Government is forced to concede that it faces the problem of very well entrenched Islamic separatist insurgent groups in its mainly Muslim border provinces with a very disturbing potential to escalate, if handled badly. The country's intelligence services will have to ascertain the nature and scope of threats and the government needs to craft a co-ordinated strategy aimed at isolating the insurgency threat while addressing the Muslim disaffection.
