The French navy in a phase of transition
Article Abstract:
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Jean-Charles Lefebvre of the French Navy discussed in an interview various aspects of France's involvement in peacekeeping missions and the role of the naval forces in such missions. Lefebvre said that the peacekeeping missions require that French armed forces are in close coordination with each other, since inter-operability and logistical support are necessary in military operations. Lefebvre said that within the context of inter-operability, there were difficulties concerning technological differences which could adversely affect the command and control of the combined forces' systems.
