The Navy's strategic approach to correctly shaping the force
Article Abstract:
The US military services seem to respond to White House pressures by rushing to reduce personnel costs to afford the next generation of weapons in the acquisition pipeline, following which the Air Forces may cut up to 40,000 people to pay for the F-22 tactical aircraft and other weapons being developed. However, the Navy has taken a strategic approach to correctly shaping it force by changing national security requirements and introducing new technology to enable reduction of manpower.
