The SKJOLD fast patrol boat
Article Abstract:
Kvaerner Mandal has delivered a pre-serial SKJOLD fast patrol boat (FPB) to the Royal Norwegian Navy (RNoN) in Apr 1999. The delivery of the FPB is in line with the modernization program being implemented by the RNoN, which also include the introduction of a high-speed composite surface effect ship. FPBs are favored by the RNoN because of their relative cost- efficiency, use in coastal waters, large weapon load, high-speed and well- trained crew.
