The arsenal of the ground war
Article Abstract:
A representative sampling of the ground equipment and airborne assets used by the U.S. Army in combat operations has been provided. The land force equipment consists of direct fire engagement assets such as M1A1 tank, M1A2 SEP tanks and M2/M3 Bradley fighting vehicles, an array of integrated mortars and indirect fire assets such as the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) while the airborne assets such as the howitzer systems and several tactical wheeled vehicles have been used in combat operations like Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Protecting soldiers

The US Army is developing selectively permeable membrane garments, designed to offer protection against chemical and biological threats. The development, which is taking place at the Natick, MA, U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center, is described.
