The contract that Bazan and Lockheed Martin signed with the Royal Norwegian Navy for the delivery of five new frigates is discussed. The ships are of the 5,000 tons class and will be delivered from 2005 to 2010.

Littoral combat ship in troubled waters

The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) programme, planned by the U.S. Navy to acquire small, fast and flexible ships to operate in shallow coastal waters, is hampered by cost overruns. The features of the ships and the developments in the programme are discussed.
