The advances in mobility and artillery technology have made the artillery support for special operations/low-intensity conflict (SO/LIC) forces possible. Artillery provides highly mobile systems that can be counted on 24/7 to provide fire support under all types of conditions.

Marine Corps artillery in transition: 14th Marines assumes force artillery headquarters role
Article Abstract:
The 14th Marine Artillery Regiment (14th Mar) began training with I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in 1996, as its force artillery headquarters (FAHQ) for major theater war operation plans. The 14th Mar has transitioned its capabilities to include a broader scope of conflict from the low intensity of an administrative command for mobilization to a FAHQ capable of orchestrating the conduct of fires across a MEF frontage.
