Turrets and overhead weapon installations for AFVs
Article Abstract:
The development and the relative characteristics of conventional turrets and overhead weapon installations for light and medium-weight armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) with particular reference to remotely operated weapon stations (RWS) is presented. Though the overhead weapon installations have advanced further, the unmanned remotely controlled torrents and installations with pedestal mountings have so far not shown any advantage over well designed, conventional, manned turrets.
