UK defines its network ethos
Article Abstract:
The UK Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) Joint Doctrine and Concepts Centre (JDCC) in its publication 'Network Enabled Capability' (NEC) proved to be evolutionary step in the developments in networked, distributed command and operations. In spite of its advantages, the real test lies in implementing NEC like establishing an equipment plan and most important is training the sailors to understand and use the network and information being provided to them.

U32, German Navy's new Type 212A air-independent propulsion (AIP)-equipped submarine was recorded as the longest submerged transit of any non-nuclear submarine, and effectively laid to rest any concerns over the effectiveness of AIP. It participated in the NATO-led Operation 'Active Endeavour,' designed to help detect, deter and protect against terrorist activity.
