Fluid-structure modelling in naval ship design
Article Abstract:
The mission of the systems evaluation and test directorate (DCE) of the French Delegation Generale pour l'Armement is to furnish technical evaluation of the armament systems of the French Armed Forces. One of the DCE's research centers concentrates on the areas of hydrodynamics and hydro-acoustics. Recent research in naval hydrodynamics have dealt with problems concerning flow fields which surround ships. The flow field solvers have developed into useful and accurate tools such as the 3D seakeeping codes, viscous flow codes and propulsor analysis codes.

Future MCM concepts for multinational forces
Article Abstract:
Several new concepts in mine countermeasure (MCM) warfare have emerged as a result of a study, known as MO 2015, initiated by the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic in 1992. The two most promising concepts are a system that employs surface drones for both minesweeping and mine hunting and one which uses multiple autonomous underwarer vehicles. The study also reveals a great opportunity for a multinational collaboration in both research and development of new MCM systems.
