Washington report: Congress girds for 2006 battle as Mullen readies shipbuilding plan
Article Abstract:
Admiral Mike Mullen, chief of naval operations plans on a force structure plan that will be based largely on a highly anticipated study commissioned by Mullen over Navy procurement, however, it is likely to cause friction between Pentagon and lawmakers with shipping interests in their states. Several lawmakers are urging service leaders to protect shipbuilding from the type of major cuts that have severely affected the Navy procurement in the past.

U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps awards the 'Health Colonel' for selfless support
Article Abstract:
Retired Army Reserve Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, or 'Health Colonel' was awarded a support award by Team Spruance of the US Navy Sea Cadet Corps at its annual banquet on June 5 2005, for his work in training and inspiring Sea Cadets with his military-style workouts. The Colonel emphasized the importance of investing in character building as the Sea Cadets represent the country's future in addition to their own.
