The Marine Corps Oral History Program, was pioneered by historian Benis M. Frank in 1965 with a mission to provide yet another source of information about Vietnam War, as well as the recent past history of Corps. The Oral History Program is a critical component of the overall Marine Corps Historical program and particularly suited to preserve and collect Marine Corps history.

A close call for a recon Marine
Article Abstract:
The experience of the Marines during the 1969 emergency medevac mission in Vietnam is illustrated. The Swift-04, a CH-46 helicopter flown by Capt Bill Beebe and copilot 1stLt Jeff Monaghan of the Purple Foxes squadron saved the lives of a surgeon and a Marine.

The Marine Corps and the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the Oral History Program and the 'Veterans Project' initiated in October 2000. Individual Marines, their family and friends, veteran's organizations and other groups are encouraged to participate in the program.
