When Arnold bucked FDR
Article Abstract:
General Arnold had to fight to build up the U.S. force before the country entered World War II because President Roosevelt had called for increased military aircraft production to be sent to the United Kingdom, Russia and China. The Army Air Forces badly needed large numbers of aircraft on the eve of Pear Harbor, but the President wanted to send them to the Allies.

The twentieth against Japan
Article Abstract:
The creation of twentieth Air Force by Hap Arnold to spearhead a strategic bombing offensive in the Pacific, which led to Japan's defeat and proved to be a landmark in the long struggle of airmen is described. The need of B-29 was felt by Arnold to bring down Japan to its knees after its attack on Pearl Harbor and to drive it out of World War II.

Knerr is remembered as one of America's most important and influential airmen who was also a gifted airman, brilliant logistician, and near-genius at devising organizational fixes.
