A pill to die for
Article Abstract:
Amid opposition by international medical associations, governments and right-to-life groups, Australian doctor Philip Nitschke and colleague Des Carne will look for a drug combination to fashion a voluntary euthanasia pill from ingredients that are available to anyone. Nitschke calls many of the arguments over life by the establishment hypocritical. Doctors have always assisted patients to die, but have never talked about it. New technologies and medicines developed since the 1960 have also made it increasingly difficult to die.
