Abortion: the debate re-ignites
Article Abstract:
The abortion debate is re-igniting in Australia. There are new arguments on what choice really means, although for a long time the public has been uninterested. In Feb 1998 Victor Chan and Ho Peng Lee, physicians in Perth, were arrested. The charge was procuring an abortion. A historic court case likely will start Apr 14, 1998. A book, 'The Abortion Myth,' has been written by Leslie Cannold, 32, a Melbourne-based bioethicist raised in New York. It gives a new way to look at the procedure, a commonplace one. There were almost 92,000 terminations in Australia, 1995-96.
