Singapore has changed outwardly to the foreign observer, however, it is seen that despite public pronouncements, the country is still ruled by the Lee family where the son is expected to take over. The government claims that it is committed to liberalization, but these changes can be seen only on the superficial level like opening of discreet gay bars, permission to chew gum under medical supervision.

Singapore Democratic Party is sued for allegedly claiming Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his 82-year-old father Lee Kuan Yew who knew about corruption in a kidney charity. The Lee's People's Action Party (PAP) has no worries about the upcoming May 2006 elections as they have delivered secure, sanitary, successful and sterile Singapore works.

Lee jnr steps up

Lee Hsien is the third prime minister of Singapore since independence in August 2001. Many Singaporeans regard him as a capable but less-colorful version of his strongman father, the philosopher king, Lee Kuan Yew.
