Former Montreal, Quebec, Mayor Jean Drapeau stated that 'the Olympics can no more have a deficit than a man can have a baby.' His organization of the 1976 Olympics led to a public debt of $1.5 billion. His actions contributed to the commercialism of the 1996 Olympics.
