Perth based Aurora Minerals has held a prospecting permit over several properties in New Zealand, but such a permit is restricted to low-impact studies such as surface sampling, geochemical and aeromagnetic surveys. Aurora listed in June 2004, after raising $4m through an issue of 20 million shares at 20 cent, plus a one-for-two issue of 10 million free options exercisable at 20 cent by July 31, 2006.

Shares of Tawana Resources rose 18% in July 2003 and with its preparations to recover a 500-tonne bulk sample to test the diamond content will lift its equity up to 40% more.
