Automakers' new math
Article Abstract:
Automakers are about to flood the market with sport utility trucks (SUTs), which are combinations of sport-utility cabs and stubby pickup cargo boxes. The first SUT to be launched was the Frontier Crew Cab pickup from Nissan, which features a stubby cargo box, a roomier backseat compared with extended-cab pickups and four conventional-size doors. Other SUTs that will follow include DaimlerChrysler's '00 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, Ford Motor's Explorer SportTrac and SUTs from General Motors that will combine its full-size Chevrolet and GMC pickups.
