Back to Bosnia? Canada hedges on committing NATO troops
Article Abstract:
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Andre Oullet has said that some Canadian troops may be sent to Bosnia as part of a NATO peacekeeping force, just two weeks after announcing that the 1,300 Canadian UN troops now in Bosnia would be withdrawn. The US would lead the NATO effort and commit 25,000 men.

A soldier's story: a Canadian recalls his detention in Bosnia
Article Abstract:
Sergeant Michel Sartori of Canada's 22nd Regiment, known as the Van Doos, describes his experiences as a member of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Bosnia during late 1993 and early 1994. Sartori reports that the Serb soldiers who took him hostage were often drunk.

Back to Bosnia: Canada joins NATO allies in enforcing the peace
Article Abstract:
Canada reluctantly agreed in Dec 1995, to send 1,000 troops as part of a 60,000-member NATO peacekeeping force to Bosnia-Herzegovina. The NATO deployment replaces the UN mission and is charged with enforcing the Nov 21, 1995, Dayton, OH, peace accord brokered by the US.
