As a Fugitive, Hussein Stayed Close to Home
Article Abstract:
Saddam Hussein decided that his home base would serve as his safest hiding place. US soldiers discovered him in a spider hole on a farm near Tikrit, but it was obvious that his network of supporters had dwindled and he could no longer move around easily. The US Fourth Infantry Div. executed the raid that discovered Hussein. Intelligence information revealed that he continued interaction with his two sons, Uday and Qusay, until US forces found and killed them. Their loss diminished his protective network that helped him avoid detection for several months.

After 12 Years, Sweet Victory: The Bushes' Pursuit of Hussein
Article Abstract:
The capture of Saddam Hussein is a special victory for two presidents who are father and son. Former Pres. George H.W. Bush was once targeted for assassination by the Hussein regime. Current Pres. George W. Bush has maintained his determination to end the brutality of the Iraqi dictatorship. George H.W. Bush has no regrets about his failure to overthrow Hussein after the Persian Guld War in 1991. His son was not so hesitant because he believed that a successful military campaign was important for the international war against terrorism.
