As Bombardier takes off, Pratt descends
Article Abstract:
Pratt& Whitney Canada Inc., a manufacturer of aircraft engine, intends to displace 900 employees by the end of 1999. The move is part of the efforts of the aerospace company to prevent losses in light of the projected decline in the aerospace industry. Bombardier Inc.'s Canadair unit, an aerospace firm, for its part, has expressed plans to adopt a strategy opposite to that adopted by Pratt & Whitney. The company, which has hired more than 1,000 in additional workers, intends to hire an undisclosed number of personnel in the next few months.
