A technology company Harrington Group that would generate market interest in coming months with projects to enhance small arms ammunition and drug detection is reviewed. The technology is aimed at producing electric rubber bullets to control unruly crowds beyond the range of those chucking rocks and Molotov cocktails and with a subject's saliva in the bowl of the device, it detects use of cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamines or heroin.

QRSciences, an Australian high-tech hopeful, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) to aid the CIAE in its task of developing security screening systems to protect the 2008 Olympics to be held in Beijing. The signing of the MOU sets the groundwork for negotiation of a detailed agreement for the integration of QR-based explosive detection in the Olympic security regime.
